Noosa will usher in Spring in style this year. The annual Noosa Jazz Festival, which marks the end of Winter, will see the town come alive, with 4 days of great live music, gourmet food and wine and beautiful Spring time weather.
The iconic Queensland music event, which runs from Thursday 30th August – Sunday 2nd September, celebrates all genre of jazz, fromtraditional to modern funk, blues, indie, alternate pop and progressive music. There will be over 200 performances from Australian and International artists in local restaurants and open-air venues overlooking Noosa’s stunning main beach and river.
Festival organisers have promised the 2012 festival will be even bigger and better than years past, with more artists, more venues and more opportunities for the community to get involved. Popular returning events include Tastings on Hastings, which sees Hastings Street transformed into a pop-up restaurant for 600 guests, who are wined, dined and entertained by a roving stage of musicians and buskers. This will feature alongside many other much-loved festival events,including the Legendes Lunches, Sunday Jazz in the Park, daily jazz river cruises, large open air concerts and small intimate venue performances.
The 2012 program includes headline acts Australian jazz great Grace Knight, US troupe San Gabriel 7 featuring jazz legend BillWatrous, and Liam Burrows, who was recently named Best Jazz Artist at the 2012 MusicOz Awards. The stellar line-up also includes US Motown legend Gil Askey, jazz funk group Bullhorn & the Barksdale Brass Band, and renowned Australian artists James Morrison, Monsieur Camembert, Emma Pask, Ed Wilson and Noosa local Andrew Lawson.
