The Noosa Jazz Festival is over for another year and we are thrilled to let you know that this years event was a huge success.
The annual Tastings on Hastings on Friday proved to be a winner with 600 diners enjoying Hastings Street’s pop up restaurant. Jazz continued throughout the day with many fringe events from Hastings Street to the Bicentennial Hall, to Noosaville and even to the North Shore. Saturday night’s headline concert with Grace Knight and Liam Burrows was a sell-out success with just over 300 guests enjoying the smooth sounds of jazz at the Tingirana Stage in Lions Park.
One of the big successes for the weekend was the Sunset Bar on Noosa’s Main Beach where some great talent was discovered with the Star Search Competition which took place over three days culminating in Michael Morgan being named winner by judges Andrew Lawson, Lee T-Bone Turner and Sharon Brooks. The festival also showcased some rising stars in the Jazz industry such as Bullhorn and the Barksdale Brass Band who performed on Friday night on the Tingirana Stage. “It is really good to introduce some of the new young guns of jazz to the Festival” said Event Organiser Garth Prowd.
From river jazz cruises, to jazz in the Laguna Arcade near Aromas to specific events at restaurants and resorts such as RACV, there were over 300 performances. “Overwhelmingly we have had positive feedback and the Sunset Bar overlooking beautiful Main Beach was a big hit for many.” said Garth Prowd.
