With high temperatures expected to impact the Sunshine Coast in coming days, the Queensland Ambulance Service (QAS) is reminding residents of the dangers of heat-related illness.
QAS Sunshine Coast Local Ambulance Service Network Assistant Commissioner Chris Broomfield said coastal communities in the south east, from the Sunshine Coast north to Fraser Island, could expect temperatures eight to 10 degrees higher than usual over the weekend and early next week.
“Past experience has shown an increase in temperature could mean an increase in heat-related cases for the ambulance service,” Mr Broomfield said.
Mr Broomfield said there were a few simple guidelines residents could follow to avoid heat related illness, these include:
“Signs of heat exhaustion include; flushed or pale skin, cramps, nausea, headache, dizziness, disorientation, drowsiness, fainting or collapse,” he said.
“If you suspect someone is suffering heat exhaustion call triple zero (000) immediately.”
