Sunshine Coast pitches in on national Clean Up day

  • 1019 total registered volunteers
  • 76 registered clean-up sites (29 by schools, two by businesses and 45 by general volunteers)
  • 1106.5 bags of general rubbish collected (15.4 tonnes, 92.4 cubic metres, equivalent to 369 wheelie bins worth of general rubbish)
  • 213.75 bags of recyclable rubbish collected (2.96 tonnes, 17.76 cubic metres, equivalent to 71.5 wheelie bins worth of recyclable rubbish)
  • Most regular collection site coordinators reported much less general litter than previous years but an increase in illegal dumping sites or larger items e.g. tyres and shopping trolleys.
