Suncoast Boulevard Streetscape take shape

  • Widening of footpath areas along western side of David Low Way;
  • New kerbing and channelling along western side of David Low Way;
  • Relocation of above ground power to underground power;
  • Stormwater drainage upgrades;
  • Installation of public seating;
  • New retaining walls;
  • Provision of access stairs and ramps (for disabled and pram access);
  • Road lighting upgrades;
  • Street tree planting and gardens;
  • Public art;
  • A new planted centre media strip on David Low Way; and
  • New asphalt overlay on the western side of David Low Way.

Cr O’Pray said Stage Two works were scheduled to be completed by early December (weather permitting).
“The overall aim of this Streetscape Plan is to create an attractive, safe and connected coastal village centre that is a focus for the local community and tourist activities,” he said.
“It will also give priority to pedestrians and cyclists through the installation of traffic calming devices and improved pedestrian crossing opportunities and create a shady, beachside atmosphere.
‘Business as usual’ status will apply during Stage Two construction works with traffic movement retained along David Low Way and vehicle and pedestrian access maintained throughout the precinct (with the exception of the Lexie Street closure).
