An interactive two-day workshop in suicide first aid – The Living Works Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training – will be held by United Synergies and the StandBy Response Service on Friday and Saturday, 28 & 29 September at United Synergies, 12-14 Ernest Street Tewantin.
Part of an international suicide prevention training programme, the Living Works Suicide Intervention Workshop is a two-day intensive, participatory course designed to help caregivers recognise those at risk of suicide and master a model for effective suicide intervention.
Training includes developing skills to reduce the immediate risk of suicide and strategies to increase support for a person a risk. All participants receive a comprehensive Living Works Suicide Intervention electronic handbook on completion of the two day course, as well as substantial information about local Sunshine & Cooloola Coast contacts, resources and pathways to care.
The cost of $200 per person also includes lunch and morning and afternoon teas both days. Those who may attend include all types of caregivers or persons in any position of trust or responsibility- such as professional workers, volunteers, family, friends and co- workers and interested members of the general public.
This international course is delivered by the United Synergies StandBy Response Service, nationally recognised leaders in the area of suicide training and bereavement support. With postgraduate qualifications at Masters level, combined with ongoing experience in service delivery, our expert staff provide training which is meaningful and well informed.
More than 1200 people in the Sunshine and Cooloola Coasts region have already undertaken this training and are now better prepared to make a positive difference to someone at risk of suicide.
To register, contact StandBy on 5442 4277. Course numbers are limited and registrations are essential. For those needing support in relation to suicide contact Lifeline on 13 11 14.
