LAST chance for residents to have their say on the speed limit of Caloundra Road.
A Parliamentary paper and e-petition calling on changes to the speed limit of the major arterial road, already has a combined total of 1291 signatures.
Member for Kawana Jarrod Bleijie, who is sponsoring the petition, is calling on residents to have their say and sign both petitions, before they close on Friday 7th October.
“I have been blown away with the strong support this petition has received,” Mr Bleijie said.
“To have over 1000 signatures in a little over two weeks is a fantastic result.
“The feedback that I have received from residents has also been very supportive of the speed limit change.
“I think people also appreciate the opportunity to have a say on practical issues, such as speed limits.
“Increasing that section of Caloundra Road from 80 km/h to 100km/h is common sense.
“Both petitions will be tabled in Parliament on 11 October, so if you have an issue with the current speed limit of Caloundra Road, now is your chance to have a say.
“Residents are able to sign both the paper and e-petition.
“The petition is calling on the speed limit of Caloundra Road from the Racecourse Road interchange to the roundabout with Kawana Way (Link Road) to be increased from 80 km/h to 100 km/h, to ensure that the new multi-lane arterial road has a consistent speed limit.
“Petitions do have an effect on Government decision making.
“The more signatures a petition has is evidence of the community support for the issue,” Mr Bleijie said.
