In line with the Queensland Government’s move to Stage Two restrictions, SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is happy to announce that it will reopen its doors to the public on Thursday 4 June 2020.
The iconic aquarium will again be able to take guests on a journey of discovery into the underwater world and will have additional health and safety measures in place to ensure the wellbeing of guests, team members and animals, including the adorable colony of Little Blue Penguins!
With the Queensland school holidays just around the corner, SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is sure to be an appealing adventure for families who have been confined to their homes and feel like they may have had enough screen time.
“We are excited to welcome guests back to SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast this Thursday. We have implemented a number of health and safety measures that seek to reduce the risks associated with the presence of COVID-19. The whole team is thrilled for visitors to return and we ask that all guests pre-book their tickets online in advance so we can carefully manage our capacity,” said Quinn Clarke, General Manager at SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast.
SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is moving forward with a cashless approach and is requesting that visitors pre-book their tickets online to guarantee entry. The guest capacity has been reduced to allow for social distancing and the best possible guest experience. Enhanced cleaning measures have been introduced throughout the day to disinfect high-frequency touch points. Social distancing controls are in place for queues and viewing areas. All measures are in line with government advice and the requirements of local health authorities and the full list of health and safety measures can be found at www.sealifesunshinecoast.com.au/updates
“Our animal care team has continued to work during the closure period to feed and care for all of the resident sea creatures. Our team is looking forward to reopening and resuming the daily interactions with guests. That said, we have thoroughly enjoyed sharing our virtual aquarium with people of all ages across the Sunshine Coast, Queensland and the rest of Australia, through our live streams and online content over the past couple of months,” continued Quinn.
The most popular live streams featured SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast’s Little Blue Penguins, who arrived at the aquarium late last year as part of the launch of a brand new exhibit. The new zone was only open to the public for a few months before the aquarium temporarily closed so it’s a great reason for locals and visitors to the Sunshine Coast to visit!
In addition to visiting the penguins on your journey through the aquarium, you can now step inside the Little Blue Penguins’ habitat for a Penguin Encounter! This unique experience allows you to meet the cheeky birds up close, hand feed them a fishy feast, go on a behind the scenes tour and discover how the team cares for the colony. Places are limited, so book in early.
To celebrate the reopening, guests can take advantage of a 20% discount on admission tickets and the Penguin Encounter experience!
SEA LIFE Sunshine Coast is also home to sharks of all shapes and sizes, thousands of colourful tropical fish, incredible live coral and a delightful colony of seals that you can see in action in the Seal Presentation, which is included in the admission price.
