Member for Buderim Steve Dickson met with volunteers in his electorate office on Thursday as part of National Volunteer Week celebrations.
“In celebrating National Volunteer Week, I believe government supported activities such as the ones in my ministerial portfolio of National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing would struggle to survive without volunteer involvement,” Mr Dickson said.
“Volunteers in National Parks maintain paths, keep camping areas clean and tidy, and assist in directing visitors.”
“Regarding Sports, particularly junior sport, there is an army of coaches, managers, first aid attendants and canteen workers who make these all these things happen in my electorate and right across Australia,” Mr Dickson said.
“Racing particularly in rural areas relies heavily on volunteers who run and often maintain the local racetrack in those communities.”
