Reality Bites, Non-Fiction Writers’ Festival Returns To Cooroy. 26-29 July 2012
There are amazing local stories, top drawer journalists and commentators and of course, favourite authors who keep coming back. Best selling author John Birmingham will be here to chair a couple of panels and will do a Close Up session on the magic of making imaginary worlds real.
The Sunshine Coast’s esteemed environment guru, Professor Ian Lowe will appear with his youthful colleague, Anna Rose who has written a book about changing the mind of a Climate skeptic (Nick Minchin) in a panel entitled ‘Counting the Beans’ which takes a look at the future of finite resources from an economic, scientific and youth perspective.
Not to be missed, Jane Gleeson-White, author of The Classics and Australian Classics, will be guest speaker at a delicious, ‘classic’ afternoon tea event. And of course – the launch party will be on Friday evening with our keynote speaker Ben Law.
The lineup of authors also includes:
• Adam Shand
• Alice Pung
• Antony Loewenstein
• Ben Robertson
• Brian and Evan Mitchell
• Francesca Rendle-Short
• Kári Gíslason
• Ken Haley
• Matthew Webber
• Nicole Moore
• Rhonda Hetzel
• Sally Breen
• Tim Baker
The festival program includes author talks, panel discussions, workshops, and interviews, and offers a bookshop where you can meet the authors and purchase copies of their books.
The festival is held in and around the Library in the hinterland town of Cooroy, with easy access to the major attractions and facilities of the Sunshine Coast.
