The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018) Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Caloundra today March 27, 2018.
Twenty-five specially selected batonbearers were cheered on as they made their way along the Relay route with locals and visitors joining in the Community Celebration at Kings Beach.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said Sunshine Coast Council was proud to welcome the Queen’s Baton to Caloundra in the final countdown to the Gold Coast Games.
“The Queen’s Baton Relay is bringing the thrill of the Commonwealth Games right to our doorstep.” Cr Dwyer said.

The GC2018 Queen’s Baton Relay is the longest in history, travelling a record 388 days and 230,000km around the world.
In Australia, the Queen’s Baton is traversing 40,000km, travelling through every state and territory for 100 days.
The Gold Coast Games will be held between 4 – 15 April.
