Dont Risk the Rip This Summer

5 November, 2021

Golden Circle® together with Surf Life Saving Australia (SLSA) are ensuring Sunshine Coast beachgoers stay safe this Aussie summer with the release of their tips on how to identify and survive a rip current.

Research has revealed that rip currents are the leading cause of drownings on Australian beaches with more than 4 million Australians having been caught in a rip. [1]

Andrea Payne, Head of Marketing-Beverages at Kraft Heinz ANZ says: “Our partnership with Surf Lifesaving Australia aims to help Surf Life Saving Clubs and their members in protecting Aussies all around the country this summer”.

“After the year that we have had, Sunshine Coast residents are looking forward to longer, warm days and enjoying time along the coastline and in our waterways to cool down. We also expect they’ll be adding some joy to their day with an icy cold glass of Golden Circle® juice with the family.

“So, it’s important to make sure we all create fun memories in a safe way.”

To officially launch summer, Golden Circle® and Surf Life Saving Australia hosted a Golden Circle Sip & Support event at Broadbeach Surf Life Saving Club, to raise funds for SLSA, along with conducting fun beach activities and showcasing a live rip demonstration led by Surf Life Saving Queensland Regional Operations Manager, Nathan Fife.

The rip demonstration featured a coloured marine life and environment safe dye released into the ocean to show a rip current from land and in the air, to highlight how Aussies can learn to identify a rip.

To ensure everyone gets to enjoy the sun and the water safely, Surf Life Saving Australia and Golden Circle have also released a #dontrisktherip Safety Rip Tips.

Nathan Fife, Surf Life Saving Queensland Regional Operations Manager, said: “It’s great to have Surf Life Saving work together with Golden Circle® to encourage all Sunshine Coast residents to have fun in the sun, while staying safe in the water and being sun smart.

“As rip currents are the number one hazard at Australian beaches, it’s vital that we help educate on how to keep safe and the best ways to identify a rip current. Our #dontrisktherip Safety Rip Tips with Golden Circle® highlights what beachgoers should plan for when visiting the beach and what to do if they are caught in a rip current.”

As part of this season’s partnership with SLSA, Golden Circle will contribute 10c from specially marked packs of 2 litre Pineapple Juice and Golden Pash Fruit Drink sold to help SLSA protect Aussies along our coastline this summer.

The iconic brand will also be visiting various Surf Lifesaving Clubs around the country, and offering fundraising kits – consisting of product packs – that can be sold to locals, in order to raise much needed funds.

Australians can also show their support for Surf Life Saving by heading to www.sls.com.au or https://slsfoundation.com.au/ and making a donation.

To try the Golden Circle® range, and enjoy a glass of sunshine this summer, simply head into any major supermarket in Sunshine Coast.
