The Caloundra Amphitheatre was awash with the colour pink in motion on Sunday (21st October) as the Sunshine Coast wheeled and walked for a pram pushing world record, all in the fight against breast cancer.
While hundreds turned out to push their prams or to simply walk in support of the cause, the organiser’s early optimism about about breaking a record did not translate into sufficient prams to dislodge the current record of 574 prams.
The Pink Pram Push, brainchild of Sunshine Coast Mums Lara Hodgson and Rebecca Mugridge was just one in a month long series of events to benefit the Cindy MacKenzie Breast Cancer Foundation’s “Pinktober”.
World records aside, organisers and participants hailed the event a great success. The event had colour, spectacle, community involvement raising thousands for the Cindy MacKenzie foundation and increased awareness of breast cancer its detection, treatment, support and research.
