  • installation of thermal pool blankets
  • solar hot water for pool heating
  • installation of variable speed drives to the circulation pumps
  • rain water harvesting for use in amenities
  • backwash water recycling methods allowing re-use up to 80% of all pool backwash water throughout the centre.

Cr Green noted that in the last 12 months these initiatives have resulted in net energy savings to council of 89,300 kWh, or the equivalent of 18.28 cars taken off the roads.
“The water saving initiatives implemented over the last four years has also helped save twelve million litres of water per annum, or the equivalent of filling six Olympic sized 50m pools every year.
“The award-winning Noosa Aquatic Centre is a state-of-the-art facility and I encourage the community to drop by and personally experience the centre for themselves,” Cr Green said.
