“It was an exceptional effort from the whole team, including coach Shane Dalziel.”

Mr Williamson said Kawana Waters State College students had long been renowned for their prowess in the water, with pupils having competed at a state and national level in a variety of aquatic sports.
“Our Aquatics School of Excellence enables students to hone their skills at surfing, kayaking, water polo, kite surfing, swimming and diving using first-rate facilities including Kawana’s Olympic-standard kayaking and rowing course,” Mr Williamson said.
“Having Lake Kawana, the Kawana Aquatic Centre and the beach in such close proximity make it perfect for training and mentoring our aquatics teams.”
Mr Williamson said the college placed a strong focus on learning both in and out of the water, with students able to obtain First Aid accreditation and undertake a Certificate II in Public Safety (Aquatic Rescue), Certificate III in Fitness and a traineeship in outdoor recreation as part of their studies.
“We’re dedicated to promoting life-long learning and these qualifications provide students with a head start for pursuing career paths in the sporting industry.”
