Mayor Mark Jamieson has acknowledged the decision by the Local Government Minister David Crisafulli to refer Noosa’s de-amalgamation proposal to the Boundaries Commissioner.
Mr Jamieson said Sunshine Coast Council will provide the commissioner with any information he needs to make his final decision.
“I welcome and support the government’s commitment to openness and transparency throughout this process – and council will play its part,” Mayor Jamieson said.
“I acknowledge the independent Boundaries Commissioner is responsible for ensuring an examination of all the costs and other issues in detail
“My primary focus during this process will be for council to work cooperatively with the State Government and the Boundaries Commissioner to assist in providing all information the Government and the community require to make sound decisions.
“I support that all information is made available to the community throughout this process.
“Council remains focused on representing all residents across the region and getting on with the job.”
