It was a mixed week for the Maleny teams. Sylvia Harker’s got back into the winning list and Barbara Williams reports the the Maleny Moovers match was washed out.
The Maleny Magics travelled to Eumundi for their fixtures match against the Eumundi Egrets. The fine weather was certainly a pleasant change from the last couple of weeks as were the results for the Maleny Magics.
The Magics started off the day with a win after the first two sets and a lead of four games. The Egrets fought back and picked up a couple of games by the end of the fourth set but the Magics managed to regain one of their losses by the end of set six, and by the end of the eighth and final set managed to increase their lead by another five games. The Magics had won the day with a final score of 42/34.
The Witta Hitters, well what a horror this week. The “Matron” from Kawana Slammers certainly had her game going for her today the Slammers slammed us 44 to 26 so as not to embarrass the names of the girls who played today I will just say thanks guys for trying but I think that you will have to fire the VC.
Wasps team this week – Annie, Nic, Stacey & Maree travelled to Coolum. What started as a good competitive day was cut short by an injury in the first set to a Coolum player. We played what sets we could, and the day ended -Wasps 7 sets & 45 games to Coolum 1 set 14 games. This win helped our position in the results ladder, but very unfortunate for Marg, we wish her a speedy recovery.
Unfortunately the Thursday night comp and the Friday comp were rained out.
It’s finals weekend this weekend for the Warlords and Wikings. The Warlords are up against Mooloolaba on Saturday and the Wikings are up against Gympie on Sunday. Good luck to both teams.

At Thursday’s club games, Ken Barker 18 beat Kath Smith 13, with John McCarthy and Nick Cram 26 pairing up to beat Vince Carbery and Michael Hepburn 21.
Last Friday, keen member Lew Fitchen invited friends from Little Mountain Home Park to play their golf croquet competition. It was planned to play seven 30 minute games. However the inclement weather took charge. Eventually one game took place and we broke for lunch. John McCarthy manned the BBQ and a good job was done by the boy. As further play was not possible, they will return mid-November to complete the competition.
On Saturday morning after a good practice session Sarah Widin and Jenny Oxenham 5 beat Gail Denver and John Oxenham 3.
Sunday’s club games saw John McCarthy and Ken Barker 26 play Kath Smith and Eva-Marie Seeto 10, whilst Val Carbery was playing husband Vince when Robert Elliot joined in. The score at that stage was 12 / 8 to Val, including a very good break of 9. Robert took over and playing against himself, won 26 to 18.
The Range Croquet Club is hosting the Lions Tournament with play beginning for the 4 divisions on Thursday and concluding on Sunday.
The next meeting will be the Annual General Meeting on Saturday 19th November at 10am. This will be followed by the General Meeting for November.
Driving Range and Practice Green. Several weeks back was one of the busiest ever; the driving range and the practice green are currently in great shape.
This is a great time of year to hit a bucket of balls and pot a few the green – our volunteers appreciate the attention and revenue raised is a big help to meeting running costs and construction of the first nine holes. Each Wednesday afternoon the club host up to 40 high school students to help them with the basics of golf. The club is also pleased to report monthly visits from a group of handicapped men who find the outing highly stimulating and enjoyable.
Chipping Competition. If you would like to participate in the chipping/putting competition just roll up before 4pm on Thursday. We anticipate having a similar competition on Sunday mornings, beginning in November. Enquiries: Joe Walters jtwalters@iinet.net.au
The Maleny Indoor Activity Centre would like to form a table tennis club.
The centre will host a meeting for potential players, coaches and officials from the Maleny district on November 4th, from 6.00 pm, at the centre; organisers hope table tennis games will take place at the centre one night per week.
