Local manufacturer defies trend

Australian Off Road (AOR) hosted a Grand Opening and Customer Rally on Friday (23 Aug) to celebrate the completion of their new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility based in Caloundra, Sunshine Coast.
The general public and loyal AOR enthusiasts were welcomed to join Steve Budden, Managing Director of AOR and his team to celebrate and take a tour of their new purpose-built modern facility.
AOR enthusiasts have been appropriately titled as many have travelled cross-country from as far as Melbourne, Sydney, Darwin and Perth to join in AOR’s festivities today.
The 5,600m2 factory and showroom located in the Sunshine Coast’s Industrial Park in Caloundra will be the base for up to 150 employees with over 75 locals already employed.
“Our new facility will enable us to be one of the Sunshine Coast’s largest employers,” said Mr Budden.
The official ceremony was filled with congratulations from industry representatives and the Honourable Jarrod Bleijie MP, Member for Kawana, Attorney-General and Minister for Justice who also shared his support and congratulations for AOR.
“As a thriving business, they are employing locals, increasing the skill base of individuals and contributing to our economy,” said the Honorable Jarrod Bleijie MP
“What a day! This is how we like to celebrate, surrounded by campers, snags on the barbie and good company all round,” said Mr Budden.
AOR have become a national exporter for their wide range of highly sort after 4X4 camper trailers, yet remain strongly attached to the local area with deep roots in Caloundra.
“We like to keep things local as much as possible by supporting local businesses and organisations, today we even got the guys from Caloundra Junior Rugby Union Club to put on a fantastic BBQ for all our guests,” said Mr Budden.
At 2pm there was a rumbling of motors as over 100 AOR enthusiasts with their 4×4 vehicles and AOR campers in tow took off for the AOR Customer Rally at Sandy Creek Camping Ground.
“We are proud to have built up a strong following of dedicated AOR enthusiasts and this is what makes today so special,” said Mr Budden.
Mr Budden invites everyone to drop in, say ‘hi’, meet the team and see their new facility.
“Our new factory and showroom is at 39 Ron Parkenson Crescent, Caloundra, everyone is welcome to pop in and our team will be happy to show you around,” said Mr Budden.
AOR is a Sunshine Coast company that has been in the business of building the very best off road campers, supercampers and caravans for over 13 years.
Mr Budden and the team at AOR were awarded the coveted prize of “Off Road Camper of the Year 2011” by Camper Trailer Australia Magazine.
