“Following Ita Buttrose’s inspirational presentation regarding balancing work and family commitments in 2012 and John Bertrand’s insight into effective leadership last year, Lisa will tackle yet another prominent business topic, discussing business growth and how you plan for it.”
“Business growth is a particularly hot issue for Sunshine Coast business people, given it’s been a tough few years and those businesses who have made it through will be looking at how to grow sustainably as things start to pick up momentum. While Lisa may currently be best known for her role as co-host of the TODAY Show, she will also be drawing on her stellar media career when presenting at the Expo this year.”
Lisa’s media career got off to a flying start when she was appointed editor of national women’s magazine Dolly at just 21 and her expertise and business-savvy nature saw her catapulted into the role of editor at Cleo four years later, following a recommendation from the late Kerry Packer.
Doubling the magazine’s circulation, Lisa steered Cleo to the position of number-one selling women’s lifestyle magazine per capita in the world over the following decade and went on to run editions in New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand as Cleo’s International Editor-In-Chief.
Impressive keynote speakers has definitely become a much-anticipated part of the Sunshine Coast Business Expo which attracts over 3,500 attendees and has become one of the region’s premier business events.
Organisers also announced today that in addition to the Expo’s 60 business exhibitors, the event will include a further 40 booths in the Jobs & Skills Market which will aim to place hundreds of jobseekers into real jobs on the second day of the Expo.
Local Employment Co-ordinator, Kris McCue said the added element of the Expo would offer over 200 jobs across the booths which will be hosted by various jobseeker and recruitment agencies and local businesses with vacant positions.
“We expect to get over 500 attendees through the Jobs & Skills Market giving them the opportunity to present their resumes, be interviewed and hopefully get placed in a job by the end of the event,” said Mr MCue.
“This event aims to directly tackle unemployment on the Coast and we are delighted to be part of this year’s Sunshine Coast Business Expo given its reputation within the business community.”
Mr Hepworth said he was delighted to have the Jobs & Skills Market as part of the event and while the full Expo program was still under wraps, business people could look forward to the announcement of a second keynote speaker in the coming weeks as well as the release of the full schedule of workshops, interactive skills seminars and business-to-business networking events.
“The program is looking fantastic and we’re delighted to have attracted some fabulous sponsors and exhibitors such as the Sunshine Coast Council, Sunshine Coast TAFE, Westfund, the Chamber of Commerce & Industry Queensland, Sparx Digital, RDA Sunshine Coast, The Innovation Centre, the University of the Sunshine Coast, the Sunshine Coast Private Hospital, Small Business Solutions, Mudrunners, Immanuel Lutheran College, CNC Promotional Products, Hendrey Chiropractic and many more,” Mr Hepworth said.
“There are still limited opportunities available for sponsorship and the exhibitor early bird special closes on 14 March so we encourage people to book this week to take advantage of the discounts available.”
