Lions Club of Maleny and Blackall Range film night

The Lions Club of Maleny and Blackall Range  are pleased to present an Outback Movie Night on Saturday  the 12th November at Maleny Baptist Church starting at 7pm.
Proceeds of the evening will go to the Lions Medical Research Foundation.
In keeping with the outback theme, featured film is the acclaimed award winning Movie – The Back Of Beyond won the Best Film award at the Venice film festival in 1954.
Satisfy your hunger and thirst at interval with damper and Billy tea.
All this is included in your ticket price of $15 – children under 12 free
In addition the documentary made by the ABC in 1999 Last Mail from Birdsville will also be shown. Both movies run for an hour each.
More than 750,000 people saw the movie in the 2 years after its release then it was distributed world wide and an estimated 25 million people have seen it. In 1954 when Queen Elizabeth saw the movie she was so impressed she awarded Tom Kruse (The mailman) an MBE
Lions member and Maleny resident, Ralph Ding is the nephew of the original owner of the Birdsville Mail for whom Tom Kruse was the mailman driver.
