The perfect holiday playground to catch a break and cool off during a hot summer of international cricket stretches from Caloundra to Kawana on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.
This region is the perfect base to combine a relaxing short break with this summer’s internationals at the Brisbane Cricket Ground, affectionately known as the Gabba.
A one-day match will be held between Australia and Sri Lanka (January 18, 2013), and a Twenty20 slog between Australia and the West Indies (February 13, 2013).
Caloundra is around an hour’s drive north of the Gabba along the Bruce Highway.
Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) Tourism Development Manager Anthony Johnston said the region was the perfect place to wind down and combine the cricket with an overnight stay or longer to enjoy all the Sunshine Coast has to offer.
“This region has a wonderful reputation as a great base to enjoy some rest and relaxation while within easy reach of Brisbane’s major sporting and cultural events,” Mr Johnston said.
Sunshine Coast Airport offers direct flights from Sydney and Melbourne, while Brisbane airport is only about an hour away by road.
