[Video] A delegation of Chinese business-people today took a good, long look at the Sunshine Coast’s economic credentials and investment prospects.
Only a month ago, the delegation of 15, from the city of Foshan near Guangzhou had not even heard of the Sunshine Coast, let alone visited it.
“When we made a presentation of the Sunshine Coast’s attributes at a workshop in Foshan during our business development and investment mission to China in April, it had a big impact,” Mayor Mark Jamieson said.
“They already had an Australian itinerary planned for this time, including visits to the Gold Coast, Cairns, Brisbane and Melbourne.
“But all that changed following our presentation, and they immediately sought to add a Sunshine Coast visit to their itinerary.”
The Foshan visit is one of three Chinese delegations to the Sunshine Coast planned for this year following the Mayor’s visit to Beijing, Guangzhou, Foshan and Xiamen.
Delegates will inspect a number of Coast investment opportunities from Noosa to Caloundra and meet with the property representatives.
The delegation will also gain further information on major projects such as Maroochydore CBD and Sunshine Coast Airport expansion and participate in a brief visit to Australia Zoo before leaving.
