The well-received opening of a recent exhibition at Sunshine Coast Council’s Caloundra Regional Gallery had an entirely unexpected outcome.
The very enjoyable Mytho-Poetic exhibition launch included an opera performance by world–class local vocalist Marina Posa and talented local pianist Wendy Harper.
Two attendees of the event were so impressed by the performance and the positive addition this made to the event that they decided to make a donation.
Members of the Friends Caloundra Regional Gallery Inc., Helen and Rustum Sethna of Parrearra, have donated a $5,000 Yamaha piano to Caloundra Regional Gallery for use at future events.
Helen Sethna said she was so excited to witness such an incredible performance at the gallery.
“We have been really impressed by the way the gallery is working to engage the community and showcase such wonderful work that we felt we had to contribute.”
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the beautiful Yamaha piano is a welcome addition to Caloundra Regional Gallery as it is something that can be shared and enjoyed by the whole community.
“I’m really looking forward to hearing the delightful sounds of the piano resonating through the walls of the gallery at upcoming events. It will certainly add to the rich cultural experience,” Cr Dwyer said.
“It is such a wonderful gesture by Helen and Rustum and I’ve also been advised the Friends of Caloundra Regional Gallery Inc. are adding to this generosity by donating a cover for the piano worth approximately $400. We cannot thank them enough”.
