Council signs off on Coolum’s fresh new look

  • Upgraded amenity buildings
  • 400 square metres of new and renewed footpaths and road lighting
  • 12 new formal and informal public spaces for the community
  • Road and drainage upgrades – including two new roundabouts
  • New footpaths and a centre planted median strip, with improved pedestrian safety
  • Over 100 new trees and 8000 plants  – including a dedicated town Christmas Tree
  • Lighting, new street furniture and an architecturally designed bus stop
  • $200,000 of public art created by local artists Blair McNamara, John Fuller and Carl Holder (with a fourth by Bianca Beetson to be installed in 2013).

“What council have achieved here is fantastic. We’ve been waiting a long time for this and you’ve only got to look up and down the main street to see how good it is,” said Coolum Business and Tourism President, Noel Mooney.
