Sunshine Coast Council’s AMPED program has partnered with QMusic to provide a unique opportunity for emerging musicians and industry professionals, aged 18 to 30, to attend a Gigs and Touring workshop.
Taking place at local venue Solbar on Thursday 4 April 2013 from 6pm to 8pm,** **this workshop delivered by QMusic aims to provide tips on how to get a gig, the role of booking agents, putting on your own show and live performance skills.
The workshop will be followed by the first AMPED Live Showcase featuring local acts Andrew Redford, Once A Hunter and Apollo and the Sun.
You might find singer/songwriter Andrew Redford who won the 2012 Telstra Road to Discovery award, with guitar in hand, in any number of rooms around South East Queensland, playing his own blend of acoustic pop with a twist on any given night. Andrew has performed a range of live shows and tour supports with the likes of Pete Murray and has developed an impressive accumulation of loyal followers.
Four-piece indie outfit Apollo and the Sun naturally fit into the South East Queensland pop scene and emerged as a live tour de force, unsurpassable energy and stage banter from frontman Jarryd Linwood and a debut, self-titled EP release.
Once A Hunter might be a brand new outfit but their evolution has certainly been something of a rapid incline for the ambitious four. Originating and recording debut EP ‘Never Grow Old’ (under the moniker Afterglow), the band has so far had a short yet productive existence that can only be owed to a killer upbeat live show and a light-hearted attitude throughout all their songs.
Council acknowledges industry partners QMusic, Footstomp Music, Cartelux Films and local venue Solbar who support the AMPED Live 2013 program.
