The Mill Place Precinct at Cooroy is looking for new friends to join its dedicated team of hard-working volunteers who have already made a positive contribution to Cooroy.
As a Friend of the Mill Place Precinct you will experience a wide range of events held at the Sunshine Coast Council Cooroy Library, the Lower Mill Site and the Butter Factory Arts Centre.
Division 12 Councillor Tony Wellington said 73 volunteers had donated their time since the Library opened its doors in May 2010.
“The dedicated and hard-working team of volunteers provide valuable assistance ranging from working in the library’s retail store to providing adult literacy lessons,” he said.
“Volunteers may also find themselves conducting tours around the precinct, helping out at community events and welcoming visitors.”
Councillor Wellington said the Friends of Mill Place are looking for new volunteers to assist at the Library and Butter Factory Arts Centre.
“As a Butter Factory volunteer you will find yourself assisting at exhibition openings, conducting gallery tours and participating in the new Get Creative sessions each month,” he said.
“These Get Creative sessions allow people to immerse themselves in artistic creation from 10am until noon on the third Saturday of every month. With over 150 people attending each session, the Friend’s have played an essential role in the success of this initiative.
“Volunteers have a great opportunity to discover more about art from both experienced staff and artists exhibiting at the Butter Factory.
“So if you enjoy interacting with people, have a little time on your hands and would like to join like-minded creative types, we would love to hear from you.”
