Connecting Sunshine Coast businesses to benefit tourism

How can Sunshine Coast businesses work together to boost tourism on the Sunshine Coast? What do local businesses need in terms of support? These are some of the questions Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) will explore during a series of business networking events that will be held across the region in November.
It’s a chance to meet the SCDL team, get an update on tourism in the region, discuss ideas, ask questions and help to grow tourism sustainably on the Sunshine Coast, said Steve Cooper, CEO of SCDL.
“It has been a great year for SCDL with our membership now over 500 and some major business successes under our belt including: creating a partnership to deliver the 2012 Tourism Export Council (ATEC) Symposium which attracted 500 industry representatives to the Sunshine Coast; working with the airport to facilitate international trans-Tasman fights between Auckland and the Sunshine Coast; launching a new online booking system which has generated over 100,000 unique visitors since it began in September.
“Earlier this year we hosted four half-day workshops called Conversations with SCDL. The events were a chance for the community to learn more about tourism on the Sunshine Coast and to meet the SCDL team.
“The November networking forums will continue this dialogue between our organisation and the community and we invite you to come along -–whether you are a local business owner or just someone interested in the tourism industry,” added Mr Cooper.
Apart from the knowledge-sharing and networking opportunities, the forums will offer an extra bonus. Every SCDL member who brings along a non-member will go into the draw to win a holiday to New Zealand valued at $3000.
