Festive cheer will be in the air at Cotton Tree Park as the spirit of Christmas is celebrated at Sunshine Coast Council’s Carols at Cotton Tree on Saturday 3 December.
The free, family-friendly event program boasts an exciting line up of talented musicians and children’s entertainment, including an appearance by Santa himself.
Executive Director Community Services, Coralie Nichols said this year’s Festive Season has a great range of activities and entertainment for all the community to enjoy.
“Council, through its Festive Season Strategy, supports activities and events that reflect the cultural values, diversity and lifestyle of our region’s communities,” Ms Nichols said.
“People can visit council’s website to find the Christmas Tree Trail and Festive Season Event Guide. There is a map and interesting information about each of the 29 Christmas trees across the region and you can also find out what community festive events are occurring in your local area.”
Carols at Cotton Tree features X-Factor finalist and Sunshine Coast sensation Andrew Lawson who will headline the event.
Brett Campbell will have youngsters dancing and singing as he is joined on stage by Santa as part of his self-titled Christmas show.
Other local performers taking centre stage include the Buderim Male Choir, and Angel Cooke who will wow revellers with her renditions of carols in a classical vocal style.
To conclude the celebrations, a spectacular fireworks extravaganza will take place at 8.30pm.
Bring a blanket and picnic basket (no glass and alcohol) as the roving entertainment kicks off from 5.30pm, and carol’s program starts at 6.30pm.
On the evening, food and drink stalls will be provided by local community organisations.
Pet owners in the vicinity of the carols event are advised that the noise of fireworks can cause pets to become agitated. Council reminds owners to ensure pets are safe and secure for the duration of the event.
Carols at Cotton Tree starts at 6.30pm in Cotton Tree Park, The Esplanade, Cotton Tree. Full program information and event details can be found on council’s website.
