Caloundra now has its name up on the big screen – literally.
After taking home the gong for Queensland’s Tidiest Town, Caloundra has been given a huge roadside billboard to promote its efforts and success.
Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland, Chief Executive Officer, Rick Burnett has announced the billboard, donated by Tidy Towns sponsors, Bishopp Outdoor Advertising and Paradise Outdoor Advertising, will be erected on the Bruce Highway at Palmview.
“The billboard is like a big trophy the region can share with tourists and travellers as they pass through the district, and it recognises that Caloundra is a community that cares about its local environment.”
“Caloundra was outstanding in all categories, ticking all the right boxes in litter prevention, energy and waste reduction, and environmental protection.”
“The gateway to the Sunshine Coast is now the KAB champion of the Sunshine State,” Burnett said, with Caloundra now vying for the Australia’s Tidiest Town title.
The Tidy Towns National judge, Dick Olesinski will cast his eye over Caloundra on Tuesday, 29 November.
Keep Australia Beautiful Queensland’s Tidy Towns Awards for 2011 were recently held on the Gold Coast, with Caloundra taking out the top prize.
Maryborough was named Queensland’s “friendliest town” and Warwick received a “Highly Commended”.
The billboards promoting the successful towns will be rotated to a number of different sites throughout Queensland for the next 12 months.
