Cancer Council Queensland’s Noosa Volunteer Branch is desperately calling for Sunshine Coast locals to lend a hand and help make the inaugural Noosa Anaconda Adventure Race a success this August 11-12.
The national event series comprises three separate races, including the 61.9km Anaconda Adventure Race, the 36.9km Anaconda Mini and the off-road Anaconda Junior Survivor adventure challenge designed for children aged between 5 and 13 years.
This is the first time the national event will be held in Noosa and will give locals the opportunity to compete with and cheer on some of Australia’s leading athletes as they go head-to-head with nature.
As the event’s official volunteer coordinators, CCQ’s Noosa Volunteer Branch still needs more than 30 locals to assist with registration, marshalling and much more.
CCQ Noosa Volunteer Branch member Celia Maloney invited all fellow locals to get involved and support the event.
“Event organiser Rapid Ascent will make a donation to Cancer Council Queensland for every volunteer we register, so we’re working overtime to get as many volunteers on board as we can!
“This is a fantastic opportunity for all locals to support our athletes, join in a great community event and help raise much needed funds for the fight against cancer.
“I encourage everyone to get their friends and families together this August 11-12 and join us as we play host to this first-class sporting event,” Ms Maloney said.
All Anaconda Adventure Race stages feature a mix of ocean swimming, kayaking, mountain biking and trail running, designed to give everyone an adrenaline charge to remember.
Volunteers are still needed to assist with registration from 5pm-7pm on Friday, August 10; from 8am-5pm on Saturday, August 11; and from 6am-4.30pm on Sunday, August 12.
