Well over 200 people in cowboy hats, checkered shirts, jeans and boots descended onto the CCC sports stadium last week for the annual College Bush Dance. “It was a chilly night, so it was excellent to have the gas heaters that the P&F had bought for school functions,” said Principal and Dance Caller, Mr. Mark Hodges. “Everyone really enjoyed themselves. Especially the international student tour groups who we’re currently hosting here at the College – they love the idea of joining in and being a part of a typical ‘Aussie Bush Dance’.”
The evening was a selection of dancing and games, with lots of prizes being awarded to participants. The tuckshop was also serving hamburgers, sausages, hot dogs and a variety of soups. “We actually ran out of hamburgers and pumpkin soup on the night; they were so popular,” said Caloundra Christian College Business Manager, Mrs Beryl Hastie. “The hot food was a real hit.”
The main aim of the evening was to connect with the International students who come at this time each year in short term study tours. “Their favourite dance is the ‘Waves of Bondi,’” said Mr Hodges. “That, and ‘Ned Kelly’s Farewell’,” he added.
