The Sunshine Coast has welcomed visitors back to the region with a bumper September school holidays.
Sunshine Coast Destination Ltd (SCDL) Tourism Development Manager, Anthony Johnston has received reports from local operators of a very positive two week period with earlier bookings, longer stays and many stating it was the best September holiday period for several years.
“Cafes and attractions have been buzzing and the fine weather has been on our side making it ideal for beach goers.”
There has been lots of activities for people to get involved with during the holiday period from Festivals, a new facility at UnderWater World, free shows at the Ginger Factory, tours to the Hinterland and a classic car show in Noosa.
It was the first year the Caloundra Music Festival has been held over the long weekend of the festival and adding in the the Fringe Festival component with 10 days of additional activities.
Manager of Monaco Apartments in Caloundra, Barry Collins said, “It has been the strongest Music Festival ever, this year’s festival booked out earlier, achieved higher rates and longer stays than ever before. The move to the long weekend clearly proved to be a great success.
“I was more than happy with the second running of the Monaco Bulcock Busking Festival. The addition of the Fringe Festival ensured there was a lot of buzz around Caloundra. To see the buskers performing to huge crowds at the Bulcock Sunday Markets ensured great exposure for our business.”
SCDL together with the industry is encouraged about the recent holiday period and with weather reports indicating a finer summer, it’s the perfect time for visitors to escape to the naturally refreshing Sunshine Coast.
