Queensland-based Eason Creative Photography is celebrating multiple accolades earned at the 2012 Canon Australian Institute of Professional Photography (AIPP) Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPA).
Founder and owner Ross Eason, an accredited professional photographer, was honoured for excellence in commercial advertising, taking home three awards: Silver with Distinction, and two Silver Awards.
The most sought-after accolades in Australian professional photography, the APPA were presented in Melbourne recently during the industry’s annual Digital Show. The celebration represents the “pinnacle of professional photography”, not only in Australia but also in the world, according to sponsor Canon.
Mr Eason was honoured for three works, all of which can be viewed at www.easoncreative.com.au: a shot of Sydney Harbour, commissioned by Sunshine Coast-based Umbrella Advertising; a yacht image, commissioned by luxury boat manufacturer Riviera Marine, of the Gold Coast; and a “goofy photographer” shot, as Mr Eason playfully describes the winning photo, commissioned by the AIPP to promote its annual conference, “The Event”.
“I am deeply honoured by this tribute to my work from my peers, and humbled to be in such esteemed company,” said Mr Eason.
“This accolade is a reflection of my lifelong passion for photography, as well as the confidence I’ve gained through working with world-class designers and agencies.”
The accolades represent the latest successes for Mr Eason, who has been previously honoured by the APPA. Additionally, he was awarded the distinction of “Master of Photography” by the AIPP in 2003, an honour accorded to those professional photographers who accrue points by entering and winning a predetermined number of industry-sanctioned competitions over a period of years.
Eligibility for the APPA is reserved for professional photographers from Australia and New Zealand, who compete by submitting four images that are judged by a panel of peers. The Awards attract hundreds of entries annually, and winning images receive the additional tribute of publication in a special Awards Book.
In addition to his national accolades, Mr Eason was recently elected to the role of Vice President of the AIPP. A member of the Institute since 1998, Mr Eason also serves as a Board Member, convener of the Institute’s annual Event and a member of its national advisory committee for commercial photographers.
Mr Eason noted, “To be elected by my colleagues to this trusted position within the AIPP is an incredible honour, and a reflection of my ongoing commitment to the industry. I take this new responsibility seriously, and look forward to contributing my energies and creativity so that the Institute can continue to deliver excellence to its membership .”
