After meeting with Minister for Main Roads, Fisheries and Marine Infrastructure Craig Wallace, Member for Fisher and Speaker of the House of Representatives Peter Slipper has been successful in stopping the proposed closures of on/off ramps along a 7km strip along the Bruce Highway.
“I am pleased Minister Wallace and I were able to meet and agree its time to go back to the drawing board and keep the current on/off ramps in place” said Mr Slipper. “We also agreed that the Bruce Highway needs to have an upgrade but one that works best for residents and visitors to the Sunshine Coast.
“I can now discuss the outcomes from this meeting with Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Anthony Albanese so that we can achieve a positive outcome once new plans are drawn up and agreed upon.”
Mr Slipper sealed the deal after his meeting in Brisbane today where he presented Mr Wallace with an Aussie World Garage petition signed by over 3000 customers and residents, the collective voice of those attending Peter’s community forum at Aussie World on 29 January as well as the comments shared at the Sippy Downs & District Community Association meeting.
A follow up community meeting will be organised on the Sunshine Coast later this month to present the outcomes of the meeting.
