The interchange between Bells Creek Road and Roys Road on the Bruce Highway is about to undergo some changes.
Division 1 Councillor Anna Grosskreutz said she is pleased that access and safety concerns in the area are being addressed.
“I wrote to the Minister for Main Roads, Fisheries and Marine Infrastructure, Hon Craig Wallace MP, and received a positive response about the work needed to make the road safer and easier to access,” said Cr Grosskreutz.
“The Department of Transport and Main Roads (DTMR) are currently working on concepts for the construction of a future Bruce Highway interchange to be located between Bells Creek Road and Roys Road and connected to these roads.
“Council met with DTMR to discuss preliminary plans for the interchange. These discussions included the standard of works that will be undertaken on council’s road network and a proposal to seal the unsealed section of road between Bells Creek Road and Roys Road.
“Ongoing discussions will be held regarding the best solution for the proposed bridge over the highway and the road geometry of Roys Road.
“The outcome of council’s discussions and correspondence with DTMR reflect the good relationship council has with the State government and that we are working together to make Sunshine Coast roads safer,” Cr Grosskreutz said.
