[Video] Australia Zoo today celebrated ten years of slithering, swooping, jaw-snapping wildlife action in the world famous Crocoseum. Terri, Bindi and Robert Irwin celebrated this special 10th birthday with the Zoo Crew and guests in the Crocoseum with a special video montage, an epic croc feed and a Crocoseum shaped cake.
The Crocoseum is the fulfilment of one of Steve Irwin’s lifelong dreams; to provide visitors to Australia Zoo with the opportunity to see crocodiles in clear water ponds as part of a show to help educate the public on how crocodiles live and behave in the wild.
Ten years on from it’s opening in 2004, the Crocoseum has hosted millions of visitors, over 4400 shows and remains the venue for the daily Wildlife Warriors show featuring 15 different wildlife species including choreographed birds, impressive pythons and of course, Australia Zoo’s mighty Saltwater Crocodiles.
The Crocoseum has seen Bindi and Robert feed their first Saltwater Crocodiles, been the venue for Terri’s citizenship ceremony and a ‘This is your life’ episode for both Terri and Steve, hosted VIP’s like the Dalai Lama, Russell Crowe, Beau Bridges and John Waters and set the scene for a number of performances from artists like Jimmy Barnes, Jessica Mauboy, The Veronicas, Olivia Newtown-John, John Williamson, Dean Geyer, Steady Eddie and Xavier Rudd.
Australia Zoo Owner and Wildlife Warrior Terri Irwin was incredibly proud to celebrate Crocoseum’s 10 years in action today.
“The Crocoseum is where we celebrate our dedication to Steve’s legacy and welcome guests from around the world to learn about and become involved in the conservation of wildlife and wild places,” she said.
“The Crocoseum’s construction and subsequent success is proof that if, like Steve, you’re passionate enough about something, you can make it happen; this is what we try to inspire in people every day through our Wildlife Warrior message,” said Terri.
