Sunshine Coast residents are being urged to raise a pink flag for women’s cancer awareness and join Cancer Council Queensland and Curves Maroochydore for the annual Walk of Hope, this Sunday October 2.
Fundraising Co-ordinator at Cancer Council Queensland, Jodi Durkin, said everyone from the community is invited to participate in this important event.
“We will Walk of Hope this Sunday to launch our Girls Night In campaign, which raises funds and awareness for all women’s cancers,” Ms Durkin said.
“The Curves Walk of Hope is an opportunity for the Sunshine Coast community to come together and rally in support of all women and their families who have been affected by cancer.”
Ms Durkin said the community passionately supports the Walk of Hope each year.
“Last year we had over 200 walkers support the Walk of Hope, with many women proudly dressed in pink in celebration of the day,” she said.
“We’re hoping even more people will come out year and raise their pink flags for women’s cancer awareness.
“The annual walk is a great way to generate awareness for the early detection of cancer and importantly, the prevention of cancer.”
The Curves Walk of Hope will include a 5km and 10km walk, registration costs just $5.
Registration for the 10km walk is from 7.30am at the Cenataph at Cotton Tree Park near the BBQs, or at ‘Loo with a View’ in Mooloolaba for the 5km walk.
Following the walk, a BBQ, raffles and prizes for best dressed will be held at the BBQs at Cotton Tree Park.
