Bli Bli’s reputation of one of the region’s best resourced neighbourhoods went up another notch over the weekend with the opening of the $2.7m Parklakes Sports Complex.

Parklakes spokesperson Rob Midgley said he was excited to see the new sports facility open and ready for the Bli Bli United Football Club to use this season.

“The opening of the sports complex is another feather in the cap for the Parklakes neighbourhood and we are proud to be the major sponsor of the Bli Bli United Football Club for the 2014 season,” Mr Midgley said.
The Parklakes Complex clubhouse was constructed by local builders Bli Bli Nominees and overlooks three irrigated fields and is fitted with meeting rooms, change rooms, referees and a first aid rooms, a canteen with a full kitchen, children’s playground, an equipment storage area and provisions for a public BBQ.
Bli Bli United Football Club president Charles Cook said the new facility was a great way for the club to celebrate its 30th anniversary this year.
“You simply won’t find better fields and facilities on the entire Coast, I have no doubt that we will be the envy of many local sporting teams.  We will have over 160 girls and boys playing soccer each weekend in this years’ Sunshine Coast Churches Soccer competition which will have over 3,000 players this season.  It is great that we will have families from across Bli Bli involved in the club which makes this such a great community,” Mr Cook said.
The opening of the Parklakes Sports Complex was attended by Mayor Mark Jamieson, Cr Stephen Robinson and Minister for National Parks, Recreation, Sport and Racing Hon Steven Dickson.
