Unitywater has advised that water quality at Golden Beach and Bulcock Beach meets recreational guidelines.
Water quality scientists at Unitywater’s Maroochydore-based laboratory tested samples after a sewage overflow occurred yesterday near Short St, Golden Beach.
The quick turnaround time for testing has allowed Unitywater to advise Sunshine Coast Council of the result within 24 hours of the first samples reaching the laboratory.
Do-not-swim signs will remain in place near Short St.
Unitywater testers will continue monitoring the Short St area until its water meets recreational guidelines, and will advise council of all results.
Unitywater is focused on protecting the community and environment.
It apologises to swimmers in the Bulcock Beach and Golden Beach areas and thanks the community for its patience.
